PROGRAMMING
HINTS From the model window, click on the feature that has the lights the way you want them. The machine will turn the lights on and the camera will move to that feature, allowing you to edit the step. Don't change anything - just hit Quit (Cancel for MX). The lights remain on - Now measure the new feature and the lights will be the same as before! Note: This trick also works for zoom! |

FEATURED PRODUCT
ITP VISION FIXTURING SYSTEM When you're measuring a part optically on a SmartScope, it's extremely important to present the part square to the camera. Classic example: a circle laying flat is a circle, but start tilting it in any direction and it becomes an ellipse. This fixturing system from Itp Styli is highly flexible. Designed with video measuring in mind, the kits come with a wide selection of standoffs and holddowns that thread into a precision machined acrylic base. The result is improved location and orientation of your parts which lead to greater accuracy and repeatability. The clear base allows full use of backlight. To find out which size fits your machine, download a detailed brochure here. You can order directly through Holco, Inc by calling us at 215-283-0156 or send us an email. |

TIPS & TRICKS WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU BACKED UP YOUR ROUTINES? Tragedy strikes at the most inconvenient times. Ask yourself: if my SmartScope computer died right now, as I'm reading this, do I really want to re-write all the programs I have accumulated up to this point? I make it a point to ask each customer I visit if they have backed up their programs. Amazingly, I often hear the answer "No" even though sometimes they have many programs written. Backing up routines only takes a few minutes. Why not do it right now? Here's how: Usually the routines are stored in the default routine directories: • MeasureMind (all versions) - C:\Partrtn If the files are not there, you can do a Windows Search (Start -> Search) for the following: • *.rtn, *.mxi It will search the hard drive and show you all the routines it found in list form. • If you have a network - the easiest way is to create a folder on the network server somewhere and copy the files over there. Think of it as the cheapest insurance policy you can have! If you have current backups of all your routines, you can sleep soundly at night knowing you can always replace them if they disappear! • Some companies have the ability to backup folders or entire drives automatically. Ask your IT department if this is available to you. If not, you can probably use the Windows Scheduler to back things up automatically. • While you're at it, why not backup the configuration and calibration files? They are located in: C:\OGPMM\Config (MM) or C:\Ogp\MeasureX\Config (MX) |
